Alfred Bentley is an innovation management expert
Dr. Bentley is an Affiliate Professor in the Howe School of Technology Management. His research focuses on innovation management, motivating innovation in a corporate setting, and leadership. He is employed by IBM where he is Program Manager of ThinkPlace. ThinkPlace was borne out of Dr. Bentley’s PhD dissertation work. Since completion of the dissertation his 600 person innovation pilot has grown to 300,000 people – and has become the largest innovation brainstorm/innovation management system in the world. Dr. Bentley has advised CEO’s, boards, and senior leaders of an extensive set of Fortune 100 clients on their innovation strategy. His focus has been in game-changing initiatives which drive significant impact – both to the employees, and the shareholders. Prior to his current role, Dr. Bentley has been in Sales, IBM Research, and on a 2 year IBM Special Studies Sabbatical to study innovation management. Since joining IBM, he has received several awards recognizing his invention achievements and patent filings. Dr. Bentley’s academic and professional passion is helping his students, clients, and colleagues reach their full professional, career, and innovative potential. Dr. Bentley received his PhD and Masters in Technology Management from Stevens Howe School of Technology Management. He received his undergraduate degrees in Economics and Honors Philosophy from Colgate University.
