Prospective WebCampus students

The Samuel C. Williams Library provides WebCampus students with a wide range of online resources and materials to fulfill their research needs. The Library provides access to over 30,000 journals available in full text online and over 6,000 electronic books. As a Stevens WebCampus student, you will have the access to the latest research published in academic and medical journals, magazines, trade papers, newspapers and electronic books, all available online using your Stevens ID.

Librarians are available to offer reference and research help to all WebCampus students. With email, telephone and IM support, you can easily reach a librarian for customized assistance.

Current students

The Samuel C. Williams Library is an invaluable resource for WebCampus students. The Library contains over 30,000 journals available in full text and 6,000 electronic books. All journal databases and electronic books are accessible from off-campus to both on-campus and distance education students via the Library home page.

When utilizing library resources from off campus, you may often need to access special content sites that the school subscribes to. Access to these subscriber sites is free for students, but your computer must be configured accordingly. Please view the IT department’s page on how to access the library databases from off campus.

The library databases page is the gateway to all online collections for research. Databases contain full text and abstracts, patents, standards, books, encyclopedias, and dissertations. Checking the "Info" page for each database is a good way to see if it contains the type of information you are looking for. Hoover’s Company Records, Business Source Premier, Science Direct, Academic Search Premier, IEEE Xplore, Knovel and Scopus are just a few of the databases that are available.

Books
Electronic books can be found in the list of databases or online through the Online Library Catalog. Electronic books include:
-ASM handbooks
-Britannica Encyclopedia online
-CRC Handbook of Chemistry and Physics
-Engineering Handbooks online
-Safari Tech Books online

At this time, distance education students are not able to check out the books located in the library or books found in WorldCat without visiting the campus in person. Books cannot be sent to an off-campus location.

Articles: Journals, Dissertations, Magazines, Newspapers
High quality research journal, magazine and newspaper articles are available in full text through the online databases. Use the full text journal locator to find which databases contain the full text of a particular publication. The Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Nature, Science and the Harvard Business Review are just a sample of the 30,000 publications available online. Dissertations written by Stevens Ph.D.graduates are available online via the library’s online catalog.

Articles that are not available in full text online can be obtained through the Interlibrary Loan / Document Delivery service available in the Library. Off campus students can set up a deposit account to pay for articles. The fee is $1 per article, $10 for rushed delivery service.
